All of Darius Designs’ ornaments are made with shells that are by–products of the seafood industry. They are gathered for their meat and not solely for their shells.
Shells are collected at low tide. More rare or exotic shells require diving. After the contents are eaten for food, they are bleached clean. They are then polished and/or cut and sanded.
Every ornament is assembled with hand–wrought wire. We use either Sterling Silver or Copper wire, in 14 or 12 gauge, depending on the weight of the shells.
